Summer Ester Orr

Summer Ester Orr (b. 1996) is a Honduran-American ceramicist,

object-maker and educator living in the rural west, creating work

based on material study, community, and reverence for the natural

world. Orr uses illustration, ceramics, wood, metal and other mediums

to approach object-making as storytelling, and as a mechanism for

coping with climate chaos. These objects depict worlds & characters

that invoke curiosity, joy and introspection. She frequently

organizes workshops and classes to further craft education outside of

academia, and has participated in craft programs across the U.S

including: Penland School of Craft, Anderson Ranch, and Watershed

Center for the Ceramic arts. She is an active bird-watcher, flower

freak, frog-catcher, cake-maker, gardener and observer of life on

earth.
